2's vs Edinburgh 3's 11/10/17

After Glasgow Women’s 2s’ amazing debut match last week against St Andrews 3s, the girls were excited to get back out on the pitch to play the Edinburgh Women’s 3s.

With Kenzie Tommins back on the draw after her excellent performance last week, Glasgow were able to assert themselves quickly in the match with K. Tommins winning the draw and passing to Sherry Black who scored. But Edinburgh broke back quickly with a speedy break resulting in a goal for Edinburgh.

These two points were very representative of this close match, with further goals scored by Lucy Stewart, Kenzie and again by Sherry. But with some great turnovers and swift transitions up the pitch, Edinburgh continued to break back, with some great saves by both Glasgow goalie Laura Holloway and the Edinburgh goalie. Both teams worked incredibly hard, but Glasgow finished the first half wining 6-5.

The second half started well with K. Tommins again on the draw who won possession and went on to score. But two points down, Edinburgh came back fighting scoring two quick goals off the back of some strong determined drives. With both team’s defence working really hard, attack struggled to break through on both sides. But with some great interceptions Glasgow was able score several more goals, including from Heather Morrison on her season debut.

Despite Glasgow’s perseverance, particularly from defence who held off Edinburgh’s attack as well as from L. Holloway (goalie), Edinburgh was able to even the score with 12 minutes to go; and were victorious with a final goal taking the score to 11-10.

Despite a loss, an incredibly encouraging score from the Glasgow 2s, who are very excited to take on their own 1s next week for their first home match.
